Will other birds take care of a baby bird?

I found a baby bird have have been nursing it for a day, I can not continue to take it to work with me, expecially when it get a little bigger are really starts to chirp. If I put the baby bird where there are lots of other sparrows will they take care of it? i don't want it to die and our local animal shelters won't take it.
