Title of movie-Southern hillbilly type music possibly romantic comedy really need to know title on fox or abc?

Movie was on Fox or ABC 2 or three weekends ago. A guy looking similar to Tom selleck was in a fake hillbilly music group trying to get close enough to a lady to talk to her. They performed at place where the crowd loved them and a mayor or some sort of official hates them. He looks like a overweight Kentucky Fried Chicken guy. White hair wears a light colored outfit. In the end he is carried off by a mob. The music hillbilly's are really dumb and just follow the main guy around because he promises them something. I really can't remember much about it but any hints of something close are welcome its really bothering me !!! Thank You
