Why use a funnel to transfer large volume of liquid from one container to another?

The funnel lets you pour the liquid easily because of its large mouth. It catches liquid that would otherwise miss the smaller opening of the other container. You can also pour faster because the funnel will hold the liquid and send it automatically into the second container without your help.
